Pullins Bakers adds resonance to the Fashion Popcorn cake song

The rumours are true. Thanks to fabulous Somerset-based bakery Pullins, there will be CAKE at Fashion Popcorn part deux, which takes place on November 18 during Encounters International Film Festival.

As guests arrive at the Pervasive Media Studio, Bristol, they will be treated to the award-winning bakery’s hand-baked and very delectable range of mini delights – cupcakes, millionaire shortbreads, scones and other such good things. Perfect with a cuppa (or maybe something stronger – we’re working on that one).

Rejuvenated with a teatime sugar hit, Fashion Popcorn guests will be treated to a sweet – but never saccharine – conversation arounf fashion, film and technology, with a buzzing film showcase and talk from Stink‘s Stephen Whelan, as well as a chance to play with Tim Kindberg’s interactive shop mannequin and hub, Krstl.

We in the Fashion Popcorn family are renowned lovers of CAKE (and also certain biscuits); so much so that we find it hard to identify with the abstainers. Notably, Harriet Fleuriot – and her alter-ego Hilary Flamingo – is possibly the most expressive of her love of cake, writing and performing The Cake Song, with fellow film-maker/artiste Claudia Sárkány (aka Gloria Salami). This is our anthem, sung before every cake cutting occasion.

This love is the inspiration behind the planned introduction of a Tea & Cake Song section of the blog – sharing our favourite cake and cake places. Speaking of which, Harriet saw a Danish pastry the size of a PLATE when in Copenhagen to perform at Theatre Grob, and didn’t take a picture. Unbelievable.

Fashion Popcorn part deux takes place at Pervasive Media Studio on November 18, 4-6pm.
Part of Encounters International Film Festival. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance via Watershed Box Office.
