Cassetteplaya’s Carri Munden joins Fashion Popcorn#3 line-up

Carri Munden in CassettePlaya booth at Cosplay BarbicanCassetteplaya designer Carri Munden will be at Fashion Popcorn tomorrow, Dec 1, to talk about her interactive ‘photobooth’,  developed with Kin Design. We will also present a film of the booth in action (alas it is winging its way to Russia as I write this), previously screened at moving image, digital and interactive arts fest onedotzero, where the booth also was a star attraction.

As well as being an uber-creative and lovely fashion bod, Carri is an inspiring innovator – actively seeking  to take technology out of the PC screen and integrate it into her fashion experience, experimenting with AR, among other tech-based ideas; crucially, she integrates this with her successful fashion line from the concept outwards, so it is ingrained in her brand’s DNA. A guest at the Fashion Popcorn launch, which included a film of her work, it is great to have her come along again to add her contribution to the mix.

Cassetteplaya interactive booth at LFW SS 2011

I first discovered the Cassetteplaya photobooth at London Fashion Week, and loved its irreverent but intelligent approach to consumer engagement and compelling content experience. Its ability to delight the user and encourage them to interact with the brand, and become part of its story was all-consuming, delightful and so clever.

After the event, we were able to go online and view our resulting GIFs under the moniker ‘I CAN HAZ UR EVERYTHING‘ which are displayed chronologically as a montage of quivering Cassetteplaya windows – making for a cacophonic web page. I only wish my contribution was more excitable and I had taken more time to play!
Carri Munden talks at Fashion Popcorn #3 at The Crown Pub & Dining Room, grove Road, London E3. Also on the line-up: Emily Fleuriot chairs an informal panel and Q+A session which includes designer Carri Munden, film-maker Harriet Fleuriot, Stink’s Stephen Whelan and artist-cum-curator Joceline Howe.
From 6.30pm – please RSVP if you would like to attend (emily@featherhouse.com).
