More tea vicar? Harriet plays host at Branchage Proposes Marriage

Wedding fever? Or, indeed, anti-wedding fever? Either way, why not scuttle down the aisle at Shoreditch Church this Wednesday, where my very own sister Harriet Fleuriot will be presiding as vicar at Branchage Proposes Marriage, a celebration of the theatricality – and the weird mundane – of weddings past and present.

Adding a their leftfield contribution to the London Short Film Festival bake-off, the Branchage crew have mixed up their ultimate kitsch wedding experience; an evening which includes silent film, performance, found footage (including some bizarro films) and surreal wedding treats, all brought together with a live score ranging from traditional folk songs to contemporary Russian wedding vinyls collected and spun by DJ Penny Metal.

Be prepared for humorous delight. With a line-up which also includes Plaster of Paris, Rhosyn, Freddy Syborn (Uncle Dennis) and James Keay; and Cakes and Crunk surreal-psychedelic wedding cake by artist Gemma Pharo, the night’s shaping up to be a spectacularly surreal alternative to the reality of wedding neuroses.

Branchage Proposes Marriage takes place at Shoreditch Church, opposite Spitalfields Market, E1, on Wednesday January 16 at 7pm. Tickets cost £10 – book tickets now!
