Note to self: covet debut collection from Teatum Jones

Anyone else gearing up for fashion weeks? In 10 years working in the industry, still haven’t quite made it across the pond to NYFW, but you’ll definitely be seeing me out and about in LDN come February 18.

One of the first LFW AW11 preview invitations to flutter through to me was from Teatum Jones, a super-chic contemporary design label from Rob Jones and Catherine Teatum (ex-Warren Noronha, Luella, John Richmond). Graduates of Central St Martins and Ravensbourne respectively, and on the longlist for Fashion Fringe 2009, the duo’s debut collection is a surefire hit – luxe wardrobe essentials of impeccable cut and considered detail.
You may remember my excitement at borrowing Teatum Jones’ beautiful, and eminently wearable, digital print silk bias cut top for Fashion Popcorn #2 in November – the print inspired by the skincell reaction in the moment we experience real fear (which I felt so appropriate for the apparently insoucient but creatively-driven women.) It seems I’m in good company – Florence Welch, Olivia Palermo and Annie Lennox are three inspirational women to place personal orders (I’m saving my pennies for mine – bear with!)
With Teatum Jones being based a stone’s throw from Imperial War Museum – the Topshop New Gen catwalk space in their sights – it seems fitting that their AW11 collection, to unveiled at London Fashion Week, should be inspired, as the duo put it, ‘The private collections of Elsie Knocker and Mairi Chisholm at the Imperial War Museum; utilitarian elegance; aerial warfare photography by Ernest Brooks during World War I.’
Can’t wait to see how their second collection builds on the fantastic debut. One to watch…
