Fashion Popcorn’s second day out at London Fashion Week AW11

Flamingoes and Saloni at London Fashion Week AW11

Day two of London Fashion Week, and alongside a clutch of blogposts for The LFW Daily, I’ve been researching trends and news with the newspaper team. Kicking off with Daks, which wowed with its skewed British spirit, as interpreted by its Italian designer, we then hopped into our liveried Mercedes (driven by the lovely Gregory), and were swiftly taken to Charles Anastase at the Old Sorting Office on New Oxford Street; an accomplished collection inspired by a child’s frockcoat (well illustrated by a pair of super-cute toddlers in 1940s-style tweeds and handknits).

Having nipped backstage with The Daily’s Julia Robson, who interviewed the very lovely Charles, we came out in time for Danielle Scutt, whose AW11 collection absolutely encapsulates the new London vibe – powerful and grown-up, but still edgy. Then back to Betty Jackson – where Tracy Emin chatted with Jo Wood – grabbing a backstage interview with Betty herself, as well as super-stylist Lucy Ewing, for The LFW Daily. I also took in Jaeger (reportedly recently put up for sale for megabucks) and, of course, Princess Kate’s go-to label for glamour, Issa London. And no, folks, she didn’t show – but Yasmin Le Bon and Amanda Dellal more than made up for it with their fabulous catwalk strut.

Between catwalk shows, I managed one half of the designer exhibition, the Estethica launch (where I happened upon GFW Chairman Terry Mansfield) and researching/writing a wee news piece for The LFW Daily newspaper (which I’ll be showing off about it when it’s published, natch!) Time spent on The LFW Daily has negated time spent on Fashion Popcorn, but in a good way, and I think I’m now in the swing of things and will be able to post more immediate reports from tomorrow – although will be saving some for afters, as never good to binge!

Emily Fleuriot is reporting from London Fashion Week for The LFW Daily Blog and Fashion Popcorn. More updates to follow – promise!
