My Diet Coke break with Fake Karl at Handbag Towers

Emily and Fake Karl on a Diet Coke break

Emily and Fake Karl on a Diet Coke break

Anyone who knows me will know that I am not generally a fan of caffeine. Makes me go all a bit funny. Diet drinks? Well, don’t get me started.

However, yesterday I made a minor exception, accepting three designer Diet Coke bottles from Karl Lagerfeld himself (ahem). Just because it was very funny, and the wig was so bad it was good (not sure what KL would’ve said about the centre parting) and he did make the effort to come all the way to Handbag Towers, where I’m currently freelancing on the fashion desk.

Chanel’s creative director has designed a trio limited edition aluminium bottles inspired by no less that the kooky little dolls on the Diet Coke TV ad. And shot the ad camapign to boot. He’s a photographer too, fashion peoples. With Blake Lively, Alexa Chung, Vanessa Paradis, Karl seems an expert on scooping up new muses, but who would’ve thought that we should be looking to wooden mannequins for womanly inspiration? On second thoughts…

Anyway, if you do fancy getting your mitts on these bottles (why not buy a presentation box designed by Karl, a snip at £9.95) get yourself down to Harvey Nichols on Monday.
