Fashion Popcorn meets William Tempest

Fashion Popcorn caught up with the lovely William Tempest at London Fashion Week’s Fash/On Film launch in Somerset House on Friday night. Guests at the launch event were treated to a stunning programme of fashion films (and a bit of champers, don’t mind if I do) to get the tastebuds tingling for the rest of LFW’s fashion film programme at the Canon Cinema.

Fashion Popcorn loved Alex Turvey’s Fashion Shower (Anna Dello Russo for H&M), and were especially excited to see Amanda Boyle’s  Skirt (Mulberry), another film beautifully shot by the talented Ula Pontikos, which won the Fashion Category at this year’s Vimeo Awards. It was also fab to check out the creative output of Fash/On’s filmmaker mentoring scheme through White Lodge Productions, with Abbie Stephens showcasing her film for Emilio de la Morena’s spring/summer 2013 collection.

But the highlight of the evening was Ryan Hope’s William Tempest for River Island film, It Will Not Always Be Summer – 11 mins of sumptuously styled fantasy and lavish escapism, inspired by Tempest’s original collection concept that pays homage to The Great Gatsby. We asked William to tell us a little bit about the film as well as his thoughts on why film is so hot right now for the fashion world (and you can watch the full film below):
